How to Use Essential Oils

Choosing High-Quality Essential Oils for Your Family

By Megan Youncoski, Young Living Essential Oils April 26, 2019

It’s hard to ignore the abundance of essential oils that are available at our fingertips every day. As we are walking through the grocery store or casually scroll through Amazon, we are seeing essential oils. Almost every person I have talked with about essential oils has unknowingly made the purchase without the proper information. I myself have made this rookie mistake!

Some might even think that there is nothing important to know. “I bought lavender to help me sleep, what’s the difference between the oil I bought at the store and Young Living’s Lavender”? There are significant differences in the oils we buy from the grocery store versus the ones offered through Young Living.

First, essential oils are oils that are extracted from plants and flowers through a distillation process and cold pressing.

These oils can be used in three different ways: aromatically, topically and internally. To use oils aromatically you pick your favorite oil or oil blends and diffuse them throughout your home. Even if you do not own a diffuser you can simply add a drop or two of the oil to the palm of your hand, rub together, cup your hands around your nose inhale and enjoy the aroma. Whether it is Lavender to help with sleep, or Citrus Fresh for a little pick me up, you will love the aroma. To use topically, you simply apply a drop of oil to your skin and rub in.  You can apply to your head, behind your ears, or on your temples to name a few common areas. Apply one to two drops to your favorite lotion to enhance a massage.  Lastly, you can use oils by ingesting them. Young Living offers a Vitality line which means the oils are safe for ingestion. You can even add some Lemon or Basil Vitality oil to olive oil to make a homemade salad dressing.

Pick High-Quality Essential Oils for Home and Personal Use

What makes Young Living oils so special? Young Living uses a process called Seed to Seal. The Seed to Seal process uses three pillars: Sourcing, Science and Standards. First, all products are carefully sourced through corporate-owned farms and suppliers who are certified with the Seed to Seal process. If a product does not pass testing then it never becomes available for sale. All products are carefully and scientifically tested through their state of the art laboratories. The scientific process, however, does start out in the field. Lastly, Young Living essential oils have to meet the highest standards to be made available for purchase. This is how you know that the oils are safe for use and are without synthetic fillers.

Essential oils can be incorporated into your life in so many ways. Once you start to use them and see the positive effects, you will not want to live without them. Are you ready to make a positive change?
