Calypso Springs is Open--and It's Awesome

Hurricane Harbor Review

By Kristen Fischer July 18, 2019

As if Hurricane Harbor isn't awesome enough, it's got a new addition--Calypso Springs.

I visited the park recently with my husband, niece and nephew. We had never been to the 45-acre Hurricane Harbor, and enjoyed the wide variety of slides and water fun for all ages. Certain slides are for different ages and swimming levels, plus there are a few all-ages attractions.

Calypso Springs adds to the all-ages fun, offering a great space to play and relax. The centerpiece of the massive 100,000-gallon beach entry-style pool is the fountain with a spontaneously erupting geyser. It's great for little kids because you can wade in and there are no rough waves. Plenty of lifeguards are available surrounding the pool's perimeter.

A huge lounge deck with Adirondack chairs includes a members-only area and Bimini shades over lounge chairs available to rent. The nearby Calypso Grill offered food such as fries, chicken tenders and more. Over the chairs are huge umbrellas offering some respite from strong summer sun. It's a great place to unwind, especially if you're not into all the slides and other "rides." There's a nearby bar with alcoholic drinks for those over 21.

Insider tip: If you go to the park, make sure to use the restrooms and changing areas, as well as lock up any goods, before hitting Calypso Springs. You can get yourself settled on the way in and then go to the new area. There are no bathrooms or changing areas nearby, so you'll want to use those first so you don't have to backtrack.

Again, the best part about Calypso Springs was that it adds another huge space for people to sit and unwind in the shade, and the pool is perfect for all ages and swimming levels. In that way, it is the ideal addition to the park. The water was clean, as were the facilities.

We loved our day at the park and will definitely head back again.

I received tickets to the park free of charge in exchange for this review. Thank you Six Flags Great Adventure!
