A Little Paint, A Lot of Heart

A cute Mother's Day craft that will BRIGHTEN any mom's day :)

When I think of Mother's Day, an image of a well rested mom snuggled up with her two children in bed comes to mind.  I'm sure this fantasy is derived from a hallmark commercial seen or a Rom-Com movie watched, but in my universe such a scenario would not exist.  For starters, "well rested" is not a term in ANY mother's vocabulary (regardless of the age of her children) and snuggling in bed is a far cry from comfort when one child is demanding Paw Patrol on the television and the other is asserting his new found "walking" freedom!  This year, in leu of a forced snuggle session, my dream is to spend an entire day building with BRIO train tracks, swinging on the swings, strolling around the neighborhood via carriage and/or bike and watching Muana for the 300th time with both of my little men.

This "dream day" of mine is certainly full of activity and would not fall short of amazing if it came to fruition, but one thing that would make it even more special would be a homemade gift to remember my sons as they are now for years to come (Sorry, not sorry, but I'm crying a bit as I write this.  #emomtional) Since I'm the creative one in the house, I began searching Pinterest high and low for different ideas that might work for my 3 year old and 1 year old.  After throwing the incredibly adorable, yet highly advanced photo candle holder craft out the window, I opted for a self created template that would ONLY ADDITIONALLY REQUIRE yellow paint, orange paint and the appendages of my two sons.

((Below is the template that I created for my "You Are My Sunshine" Mother's Day gift.  While I was not necessarily surprised by this thoughtful homemade gift, I did get a bonus 10 minutes with my guys as I painted their feet and fingers to make the sun's rays))
