Headed to the beach this weekend?!

Here's 5 things to have (and not have) in your beach bag

Happy Memorial Day Weekend, Everyone!

As we celebrate the unofficial start to the summer season, it's easy to fall back into some of our sandy toe ways.  From strolling down the boardwalk to popping up our umbrellas, going to the beach was a relaxed and easy past time. This year, under the strict social distancing order, going to the beach has become a bit more challenging - as if bringing your toddler to the beach wasn't difficult enough ;).  From new entrances to new procedures, there are so many things that we need to "pack" in our bags.  Here are 5 things that you will (and will not) want to have in your tote this weekend:

1.  DO bring your phone with NEW downloaded apps:  Planning on going to Belmar?  Make sure you have the ParkMobile App, which is a -pay-by-plate paid parking app for cars parked on the east side of Ocean Avenue.  If you are considering Asbury Park, you will want to download the Viply app which is the exclusive way for beach bums to purchase their daily passes.  Passes will be limited and will be "on sale" at 5:00p for the following day only!

2.  DO bring your face coverings and masks:  Don't worry about "mask tan lines" since you will not need to wear a cover while swimming or sunbathing.  You will, however, need a mask while walking the boardwalk, entering or exiting the beach and using restroom facilities!

3.  DO NOT bring your tents, canopies and/or weather shields:  This season's new rule excludes baby tents smaller than 48"x49"x36" and traditional collapsible umbrellas smaller than 6' wide.

4.  DO NOT bring your (pool) goggles:  At this time, both the North and South End pools in Spring Lake are closed.  They will remain closed while the ban on public bathing is in place.

5.  DO NOT pack your E-musement Credits:  As of May 18th, Jenkinson's Boardwalk Amusements are not open.  According to a Facebook post, however, there is a plan to open, in keeping with the Governor’s guidance, later this summer.
