Treats That Trick

5 Healthy Halloween Snacks That Your Kids Will Love!

By Kate Downes October 22, 2020

I'm pretty sure that when you think of Halloween the first thing that comes to your mind IS NOT healthy food.  From Milky Ways to Caramel Corn, the days surrounding the 31st are filled with salt, sugar and sweets!  While there is absolutely nothing wrong with having some candy for the next few days, Halloween does not need to sidetrack your family's wellbeing!  Instead of stashing candy bars into their lunches, why not "disguise" some healthy snacks that will not only get your kids into the holiday spirit, but will also have them feeling "SPOOK-TACULAR" for days to come!

1.  Suck your blood apples:

By cutting off one side of an apple and digging out a portion of that side's skin, you can create the mouth of a vampire.  By placing 2 almonds within "the mouth," your apple quickly becomes a "blood sucking" snack!

2.  Cheesy broomstick:

With a pretzel stick stuck into a half of a sting cheese (frayed 50% from the bottom), your kids will be "witching" for more!

3.  Banana fingers:

Before the trick or treating begins, start your kids' day off with a banana cut in half long ways.  Place an almond on each of your banana halves to create a fruitfully frightful finger!

4.  Grave yard pudding:

Amp up the omega 3's in your traditional dirt cups by making the chocolate pudding with avocados!  Your kids might be "tricked" when eating, but their developing brains will certainly be "treated!"

5.  Frankenstein smoothie:

Unless your kid is dressing up as Popeye this year, I'm pretty sure spinach is not something he is thinking about eating on Halloween.  By blending it into a smoothie (spinach will turn almost any smoothie green), however, he will be sipping his way into the holiday spirit, Frankenstein style!
