Growing up, my family and I would drive to our local nursery each December to pick out our Christmas tree. It was a tradition that was always full of fun (but also complaints and opinions). My low tolerance for the cold was never a good match for my mom's desire to inspect each branch of each tree before making her decision. My dad had a similar low tolerance, except his was based more on time than on temperatures. Needless to say, those Saturday's spent at Twinbrook Nursery in Franklin Lakes always resulted in a beautiful tree (and special memories)!
One year, however, my parents decided to shake up our tradition. Rather than dropping by the nursery, they thought it would be enjoyable to cut down our own tree. Such an activity was something that my brother and I had expressed interest in doing partly because we thought it would be funny to have a squirrel running through our home just like in Christmas Vacation. While our tree that year was squirrel free, the many laughs that my family had while together on the tree farm were certainly "Oscar" worthy!
Years later, my family and I still reminisce about that Christmas, which is why I am so excited to take my guys to Conover's Farm this weekend! If you and your family are looking for something fun to do, why not hop in your car and head to one of these Terrific Tree Farms in New Jersey!
