Saturday, March 26th, Lightwire Theater brings The Adventures of Tortoise and Hare: The Next Gen to the Grunin Center for the Arts on the Ocean County College. We begin with Aesop’s classic fable of The Tortoise and the Hare but continue the story which finds them 10 years down the road, now with children of their own and exploring modern-day distractions. The Next Gen features Tortoise Junior and Lil’ Hare in a whole new kind of race; where their adventures lead them into unexpected territory.
With dazzling visuals, poignant storytelling, and the creative use of music from classical to pop, this production brings this tale into a new brilliant light. Lightwire Theater has been internationally recognized for its electroluminescent artistry and poignant storytelling, done in complete darkness.
Tickets are on sale now for the 1PM show. Toms River + Point Pleasant Macaroni Kid have your chance to win a 4-pack of tickets to this performance!
About Lightwire Theater
Creators Ian Carney and Corbin Popp met while dancing in Twyla Tharp’s Broadway show Movin’ Out. An immediate connection was made as they discovered their mutual love of art, theater and technology. After coming across a product called EL wire, the lights turned on. “EL wire” is short for electroluminescent wire: Unlike black lights, the technology can be powered by batteries and requires no theatrical lighting. The possibilities seemed endless. Together with their wives Eleanor and Whitney they began to develop puppetry-based creatures that quickly gained personality.
Please note, it is the Grunin Center Policy for all Family Shows that all attendees, regardless of age, require a ticket.
This performance is sponsored by RWJBarnabas Health Community Medical Center.
